We’re at war in two countries and on high alert, as of today, when Dennis C. Blair, director of national intelligence, announced to the U.S. Senate that, by July, Al-Qeada had made it “a certain priority” to stage a terrorist attack in the United States.
What better time to eat out in a nice restaurant?
Next week, just 10 days from now, a number of Boston restaurants, once inaccessible on 2/14, The High Holy Day of Love, are available from 6-8:30:
Anthony’s Pier 4, Bambara, Beacon Street Tavern, Ginger Park, Hamersley’s, K.O. Prime, La Voile, Miel, Om, Rialto, Rocca, Sandrine’s, and Upstairs in the Square.
That’s a partial list. You can find more at www.opentable.com.
If you prefer to be at the happening place of the moment in Boston, Coppa, that’s still a possibility as no reservations are accepted (unless you know the chef, the P.R. firm, or one of the investors). OK, so it’s a two hour wait to snag one of the restaurant’s 40 tables, but isn’t this a time of sacrifice?
Support our troops and order the arriabiate.

What are you, a senator?
America’s top intelligence official told lawmakers on Tuesday that Al Qaeda and its affiliates had made it a high priority to attempt a large-scale attack on American soil within the next six months.
…
At times, the senators seemed more interested in debating one another than in hearing testimony from witnesses. Midway through the hearing, partisan bickering broke out about whether terrorist suspects ought to be tried in civilian courts and whether the man charged as the Dec. 25 bomber should have been given Miranda rights that could protect him against self-incrimination.
As senators traded barbs, the intelligence officials stared stonily ahead or shuffled their notes.
